A History as Old as the Town

The Swallows Nest, located at the corner of 4th and Elm St. in Historic Downtown Washington, Missouri dates back to 1880 when it was the original home of the Droege family.  In the early 1900s the home became the Thias-Lefmann Funeral Home until 1920 when it was purchased by Nieberg and Vitt to continue as the Nieberg-Vitt Funeral Home.

In 2019, this historic 2-story home was purchased by a family with a vision for historic renovation.   Elm St. serves as one of the main corridors to Washington’s Downtown Shopping District.

As you enter the district you will drive by a beautiful stone fountain that serves as a monument to this historic transformation.   This fountain and its grounds are nestled under mature oak trees which provide a shaded walking path to this gated destination.

As you enter the building you will be surrounded by boutique treasures that include furniture, home décor, and fashion items with a mix of vintage, vintage-inspired, repurposed, and new.

Our boutique has an ever-changing selection of home decor, gifts and clothing, and our café offers sumptuous sweet and savory dishes that are sure to please.

Join us Weekdays and Weekends from 8:00am until 2:00pm, with Brunch served Every Day.
